BraveDave Lucas blog ultramarathon running: MdS

Welcome to Brave Dave. This blog is a chance for me, Dave Lucas, to carry out an unofficial and not very scientific study into human capability. What I am trying to do is to prove that with a good base level of fitness humans are able to achieve much more than they think, but only if they can first convince their head that it’s possible.

I am not an athlete, I do not particularly like training, I eat what I like and I often drink too much beer. In this blog I will give accounts of my efforts, mistakes and achievements and hopefully show that the seemingly impossible can in fact be possible.

On Twitter you can follow me @TXC_climb and keep up-to-date with #bravedave.

Whats coming up?

On the 30th of August 2013 I am “running” in the 2013 The North Face UTMB race. Since the first year, it has been called “the race of all the superlatives”. A complete tour of the Mont Blanc Massif, passing through 3 countries: France, Switzerland and Italy, the race that every runner should finish at least once in their life.
Le Tour du Mont-Blanc, starts from Chamonix, with 168km of distance and 9,600m of positive height gain, and is run in semi-autonomy.
Starting, in the center of Chamonix, it will be a race where 2300 runners have a maximum of 46 hours to put their all in and rely on each other’s support to hopefully complete the circuit. Watch this space to find out more.

Below are the most recent blog posts:
